Breakfast with Solomon - Proverbs 15:33

"The fear of the Lord is the instruction for wisdom and before honor comes humility"

the fear of the Lord: This is the phrase that says that you are in awe of God and that you recognize God's power, His majesty, His beauty, etc. To live in the fear of the Lord is to live within the boundaries He has set for life. It is like a spotlight -- its shining pointing out the actions, speech, behaviors, and attitudes that would please God. If we choose to please Him and stay within the spotlight of His love, then we are living in the fear of the Lord. If, however, we choose to go our own independent way, then we get to experience why we should have been afraid of the Lord.

There is a huge part of the fear of the Lord that involves the fact of His judgment of us. We as a culture have totally ignored or tried to forget what every other generation has emphasized: THERE IS A JUDGMENT DAY. God is watching everything that we think, say, and do, and we can determine how He looks at our activities.

When you are facing a decision that you really need to be wise about, realize that God is watching. This will bring about a much better decision. The fact of God's constant evaluation of us and the permanent record of our actions is instruction to us.

How differently would we live our lives if we knew and believed that everything that we ever do, think, or say is recorded...

Until tomorrow,

Gil Stieglitz
