Breakfast with Solomon - Proverbs 25:24

"It is better to live in a corner of the roof than in a house shared with a contentious woman"

This verse seems clearly linked to the verse above it about how to connect an angry countenance to a backbiting tongue. The clear implication is that one must make sure that one does not talk behind our wives’ or spouses’ back in disparaging ways because it will always bring forth an anger that we don't want to be around.

Just tell yourself or make a pact with yourself that you will only say positive things about your spouse. The negative aspects of their personality are present, but they will not be brought up except directly with them in a helpful manner to improve the marriage.

This proverb basically says that you do not want a contentious wife or angry wife. The verse before this one tells us the recipe for making a person angry and contentious. DO NOT DO THIS. Make sure that the person you are sharing a home with is not treated to sarcasm or backbiting or hidden jokes or put-downs. These will come back to bite you.

Until tomorrow,

Gil Stieglitz
