"Prepare plans by consultation, and make war by wise guidance"
The idea that any one person can make a decision by him or herself is an unwise, arrogant, and self-focused idea. The wise person looks for lots of counsel. The idea of consultation or wise guidance brings with it time as you search out this counsel. It is not possible to be hasty while you are doing a major thing with lots of counsel.
One of the things I hope that my children do as they grow up is that they are willing to seek out sufficient counsel before they move forward with actions – especially like boyfriends, colleges, friends, jobs, where to spend money, etc. I am also expecting and hopeful that my wife and I will be a part of the counsel that they seek. I know that when I sought my parents’ counsel then I was able to make much better decisions. I remember that when my dad did not know what to tell me, he would let me know that; but he always gave me great questions to think about as I was making the decisions.
Until tomorrow,
